Recently I noticed a couple of green pigeons flew past my yard and today I had this golden opportunity to shot them with my camera while they were feeding.

These are Pink Necked Green Pigeon which I had never seen before around this neighbourhood. As a matter of fact I had not seen them in ages and the last time I saw one was like 45years or so ago in a secondary forest. They are really beautiful birds.

Well I've heard of Pink Pigeons but I never knew there was such a thing as Pink Necked Green Pigeons. What handsome birds they are KK and I'm so glad you managed to get a photograph of them for us. :-D I hope it won't be another 45 years until they're seen in your area again.

Green Pigeons with pink necks, doesn't Mother Nature come up with some interesting color combinations in the world of creatures! Certainly prettier than the gray and splotched ones I see around here.

Thanks Sherry8, I managed to see them again for a few days but now they are no where to be seen. I hope they have return to the jungle and be safe there. The fruits they are eating is Areca Nut

Thank you KK Ng...I found the reading interesting.

I wonder why the green pigeons would venture out of their safety zone if their home is in the jungle? I know birds around our area change patterns when they are looking for food that is available...I had the common redpolls a couple of winters ago that came down from Canada and they stayed for quite a while. When they left, quite a few of our small yellow finches went with them. Maybe it was the large groups that made my birds follow them back to Canada. I remember when the redpolls were here, I went through a lot of thistle seed.

    Have a great day.... :-D
