No but by this time of year all my storage onions from last year have sprouted so I have plenty. This would work fine for spring onion types but not well for the larger bulbed variety.

Growing spices, orange trees, corn, yes, onions no. An interesting experiment Carrie, I find window sill gardening fascinating. The challenge of growing something in a confined inside space provides a unique opportunity to monitor on a daily basis the plants progress. We will see pictures? Yes?

I was just looking for onions and all of a sudden I just came across the onions in a bottle.
So when it's time to plant onions I am going to try and give it a go and I will take pictures so you can see how it's going.

Lovely Idea... I am not much into veggie/herb growing, but WHY NOT?

Mmmm,,wonder how many I could get in a length of perforated PVC ? They already have onions slips at our garden center but they are 100 in a bunch so I need something big to do that.

Would not be big enough. The slips are just small onions that are about 6 inches tall when you get them. Most all are large bulbed type as opposed to the sets that are usually spring onion size when grown. These need something bigger than a bottle or bucket. Good thing about onions and with this method of growing is that all that needs to be in the soil are the roots. So it could be a space saver for some gardeners.

Lucky onions get a window side seat to springtime. This is exciting. Springtime in a bottle. :)
