FROG SPAWN in the pond!!!! :D I just hope that we don't have any more frosts or it could all die off.

Hey! Great news.... That is very exciting It gives me hope as well, although I have not seen any signs at all in the little canals along my lotties.
    What a surprize!
Who knows though, maybe a frost would not kill them afterall.
My parents went ballistic one time when I froze some baby guppies in the ice cube tray.... :D All was better when the cubes thawed out and the little gups survived. They were surtprized and I was relieved. I had read that fish could survive it in one of my dad's books...so I thought I'd try it.
Ach, and you hear folks say, "Kids these days......!". They did stuff back then too. chuckle.

Hi, I read recently that if there are frosts forecast, it's ok to take a bucketful or two of water and frog spawn out for a while, which can be put back when the frosts have passed.

Great news Eileen! You'll have lots of frogs around to help battle the slugs :)

Sharon I have a problem with taking the spawn out of the pond I'm afraid. It's a large pond and 4 foot deep. Guess what? Yes...the frogs have laid their eggs right in the middle!! I guess Ian will have to get his waders on and try to get some into buckets if we have frost forecast.

Great sign of spring! I'll keep my fingers crossed that they don't freeze out.

Whoppee!!! I'm so pleased for you, eileen. I got to see the first bat on Saturday, and today I spotted a Tussilago farfara blooming. It's very early for them, but I'm hoping.
