Hey everyone I've attempted to keep indoor plants for the past couple years with no luck, so I've decided to try my hand at outdoor gardening this year. I'm brand new at this so I'm hoping to learn a lot here! At the moment, I've started working on a yard that has been neglected for (at the very least) 6 years now Just trying to clean things up, removing unwanted plants in the beds & whatnot. LOTS of English Ivy & Poison Ivy to deal with. I also need to learn how I should prepare the beds (soil), if at all, before planting. From my past experiments with plants, I know that just sticking a plant in dirt & watering it is not always the best way to go about it! Boy, do I have a lot to learn! I bought a bunch of seeds before I decided to work outdoors, so I'm just trying to learn where to put what & figure out what I actually will plant once I get things cleaned up. Anyway, that about sums up where I'm at right now. Happy to be a part of this community!
Hello and welcome from the Pyrenees. Often gardens that have been neglected for a few year have quite good soil. By the way, what plants are you thinking of growing.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! @Odif, I got some "short celosia" plants a few days ago to put in one of the beds, that's one thing I know I'm planting so far. Some of the seeds I have been considering are zucchini squash, cucumbers, lavender, coleus, & some wildflower seeds. Some other seeds I have are chamomile, cilantro, parsley, & forget-me-nots. Starting to feel like I may have overdone it with the seeds since I'm just starting out!
Well probably not but decide on where the vegetables will go and where the flowers will go ! I have a ton of seeds that may never get planted but,,Just in case,, !! We are all seed and plant poor ! Forgot to say welcome to the forum,, sorry !
