In 1970, we inherited an annual geranium with tight double florets from a great-aunt. It is a vigorous grower and always an attention-getter in our flower beds. Now we are looking for others with this kind of tight double floret, in different colors. I can't find any in online garden catalogues. Does anyone know of a source for these old-fashioned geraniums, or even what the best search term would be to find them? Our great-aunt referred to it as her "double geranium", but that description seems to be used now for perennial geranium types.

Any help would be appreciated! :)

    Hiya,that's a beauty.

If you search on 'double pelargoniums' you should get some results(there are lots of sites in the UK so I can imagine there will be more in the US)

    Good luck with your search.

Thanks, Kiasmum! With your tip, I found European and British sources for a nice variety of beautiful plants of this type. The common name seems to be "Rosebud Pelargoniums". That will be a big help in finding North American suppliers.

That is a beautiful geranium, and I certainly see why you want more of them!
Hobb's Farm www.hobbsfarm.com has unusual and rare geraniums, as does Logee's www.logees.com .
I haven't ordered from either company, but they get good ratings and have been in business a long time.
Good luck finding just what you want!

I love pelargoniums but have never seen any as beautiful as the one you got from your great aunt. I'm going to have a look at those that are available here in the UK and add some to my garden next year.

Okay, now we have to add Brownthumb to the "enabler" list, along with Toni! The Geranium Guru--brownthumb.
Every time I get on the Stew, I either learn something or find something I want to grow, cook, or try.

I am a geranium lover!!! :-D I have found some really neat ones on line. Sometimes they call them "tulip shaped". I had "Apple Blossom" and it was a double beauty like yours. I bought seeds off of ebay and had great luck with them! Next spring I am going to look again and will try to find some doubles to try!

Thanks for all the supportive comments! By spring, I should have at least one more rosebud pelargonium to join Great-Aunt Pearl's classic model. Further pics may follow ...

Cool Geranium. I don't usually think I would like a geranium, but that one is beautiful. May we see the whole plant?
