Perhaps he lives there and forgot his key. :) Proximity to humans is usually food driven, maybe someone is feeding the Heron. Definitely an unusual opportunity, and a great video.

That's a great video! We have herons visit our pond, but we never are able to get that close to them.
Thank you for sharing, and I'm also enjoying your videos on YouTube.

Lol,..well he was on the (quay)!,..the way he was watching the door of that house i would say he is being fed,..locals tend to be good to wildlife around this part of the river.

Great video clip Philip!! I've never seen a heron sitting waiting to be fed like that before.

He looks like he was dressed up and going out to dinner! Great photo/video.

Very nice bird, but I also find his behaviour a little strange. :D The herons around here won't let us get near them at all, but I've never tried feeding them. Maybe I should.

Eileen,..it was a first for me seeing a Heron behave so.

Cherylad,..dressed for dinner is an apt description.

Droopy,..strange behaviour indeed,..i meet Herons very often on the river and lake,..but never do they allow me to get close.

That creature looks perfectly at home there.
I guess that he's sort of accustomed to all the attention.
Next thing you know, he'll be picking at your fish 'n chips over your shoulder. ;)

Well Philip you kept that a secret. I didn't know you were an artist too. I think you've captured the heron pretty well. The stance is right and everything is in proportion. Those two things alone make your painting something to be proud of. :-D

You have a really good eye for perspective Philip.

"Perspective is the art of drawing solid objects on a two-dimensional surface so as to give the right impression of their height, width, depth, and position in relation to each other when viewed from a particular point." - You've certainly managed all that!! :D

Have you ever thought about taking up your painting again? I really think you should.

Lovely definition Eileen,..alas i don't have the time these days to do any painting,..i head off on my travels,.. very often,..but i am trying to cut down,..it becomes like an addiction,..seeing someplace and wanting to go there,..then there is the fishing season,..lol,..and the hunting season,..gardening,..keeping tropical fish,.(two Aquariums),..looking after two dogs and four cats plus three kittens,..maintaining two boats,..and lol,..making photo stories from my hobby of taking pictures,..for the past few days i claim i am resting,.. .
Here are some pictures,..UNFINISHED,..and to my mind BADLY painted,..in other words REJECTS,..now that is a bad horse,..lol.
