We've had lots and lots of snow over the past few days. We're shoveling and shoveling and shoveling. Today my right shoulder refuses to co-operate so I thought I'd stew a bit and show you our snow.

The Christmas lights aren't coming down any time soon:

Truls has been busy trying to get to the grass under the snow:

Poor Gabriella has short legs, but food is food:

The "snow look" is high fashion it seems:

This is a big horse with long legs. Yikes!

We do make snow angels, and here's the proof:

Our Corylus avellana "Contorta" looks like a sculpture with all the snow.

And that's it for today. Hubby is clearing the driveway with the snowblower, and I'm off to the stables to rescue poor Gabriella. The snow should be well up on her flanks by now.

BEAUTIFUL SNOW!!! I wish the Corylus avellana "Contorta" would do well here but it's way too dry and my yard is black clay and for $90 it's way out of my budget.

Wow! You do have a lot of snow! Hubby may have to use the snowblower to clear a path to the feed for Gabriella and even long legged Truls! It does make a lovely sculpture of your tree though. I wished I had the room for a Corylus like yours.

The Photobucket isn't very cooperative, but I've tried to insert the photo again. Hope you can see it now.

It has finally stopped snowing. I don't quite know what to think about this snow. It's very bright outside, but the amount we got in such a short time has made serious trouble for traffic. We're equipped to handle snow, but there's nowhere to put it now. The snowbanks by the road are just too high. We're supposed to get warmer weather with rain. That will be eh.... interesting. :p

Interesting indeed!! I just hope it's a slow melt when it comes as flooding isn't something anyone wants to have to deal with. You've certainly had a lot more snow than us and I'm glad you've managed to cope and that the horses are doing fine.

Oh yes, now I see your Contorted Filbert - thank you for taking the extra effort, it's a truly wonderful and evocative pic! The pristine snow and the lacy branches - it is a perfect setting for a scene from a fairy tale.

My goodness gracious me!--That is some snow.
Your ponies look cool with the snow all over them.
The willow looks pretty impressive, I must say.
It is so impressive to see just how deep the snow there really is.
    Who's making the angel?

    The x-mas lights look good.

Too bad about that shoulder. Give it a chance to heal.

It's melting now and I'm happy to say it's melting very nicely. We had a little bit of rain yesterday, then the temps started rising and we also have some wind. It all makes for slow melting. The roads are almost bare now, but we still have very high banks alongside. I can't always see cars coming in some roundabouts, so I have to inch forward very slowly to get a clear view before I venture inside.

zuzu, I'm tempted to call it a scene from a horror movie. :p Glad you liked it.

Yes, I think the total depth was 80-90 cm or 2,6 to 3 feet. I'll get the exact measure once the snow has melted enough for me to check properly. The horses made paths in the snow so measuring them won't give a good indication. :snicker:

The lady making the snow angel is my neighbour who owns the Icelandic horse at the stables. You met her when you were helping with the hay. I made a couple too but I didn't manage to photograph me. :whistling:

I thought I'd show you some photos from yesterday. The landscape is very pretty, but the amount of snow is rather ridiculous.

    Morning sunrise, around 09.00:

The paddock area, obviously not in use at the moment:

The horses are in the fields:

    This is the stable:

A little bit of sun helps the mood a lot:

Little Tussi is happy to find shoveled areas:

And I'm happy to report no snow in the forecast for the next week.

"Pretty piccies--they look like foto's out of a travel brochure," says my bride. And they are too. Seeing the depth does make one's eyebrows raise.
That elevation in piccies 3 and 5 sorta reminds me of the London gherkin.
Ans what about that path in the virgin snow---just smashing.

As for the snow angel--yes, I recall that lovely lady. Too bad you didn't take a selfie when you were lying and flapping in the snow. Just think--an angel taking a selfie....it has a ring to it, doesn't it.

Thank your bride from me, that was nice of her to say. :D The next time I make snow angels I'll photograph the imprint if it makes you happy. :scheming:
