how long have you been a passionate gardener?

I bet I'm the youngest of the bunch, in my early 30's, I've always loved plants, when I was young my mom started a vegetable garden, and i really enjoyed helping her with it. finally, I am a homeowner with a backyard, and I'm going to go bananas with the garden!

I wish more in your age bracket would learn how to feed themselves ! Not that one has to,, but if necessity dictates,, they at least know how ! And that includes hunting and fishing !

    You may be surprised @adam.ca

Growing your own fruit and veg is very popular here in the UK. There are at least 2 people under 30 where I work that have just rented allotments so that they can grow their own vegetables. A lot of students are also doing it now.

the super fast past / "synthetic" lifestyle we live these days has completely removed us from nature? ya probably...
so many people nowadays suffering from all kinds of Stresses, everyone should have some plants to take care of, it's very therapeutic & rewarding!

its probably more popular in the UK cuz you guys have a better climate for that.

anyway, I'm just wondering how old the people that frequent this forum are, I bet your all in your 40's, young enough to be part of the "information age" and old enough to appreciate gardening. lol we'll see...

One of the best things about gardening is that it spans a wide age bracket. Young children working in the garden with their parents or grandparents; new gardeners with their first home with a yard; people planting in containers to have a balcony garden and dreaming of having a plot of earth of their very own; and experienced gardeners here on the forum willing, even eager, to share their expertise.
Gardening brings people together. It also feeds friends, neighbors, and (in the case of zucchini) strangers who unwittingly park with their vehicle windows down.
Age doesn't matter. We are all neophyte gardeners in some sense. Those of us who have gardened for years are still learning, still experimenting, and still having so much joy from digging and planting and harvesting. Those who are just starting out gardening have so much happiness waiting around the corner for them.

I usually do not reveal my age because I certainly don’t feel as old as I am!!
I also can work circles around many others in a garden or at my work at the tree nursery.
It’s just between me and the ibuprofen.

I do have a bit of a Dormant period from December through March. When the weather signals us, it’s back to business at the nursery. Those landscapers like to get back at it as soon as possible!
