Sorry to say. I have a snail problem here in S. Florida and I need to get rid of those pesky snails. Before they destroy my plants.

What is my best option from an over the counter product?

I can’t use any food products because that will just attract the wild cats, ducks and raccoons.

    Thanks, Scott

Diatomaceous earth sprinkled in a 1/2" band around your plants will help. the DE's sharp edges are not snail friendly. Be sure to not breathe in the dust, and get the food-grade DE.
Or, wood ashes work also. Sprinkle wood ash around your plants. You may have to reapply after a rain.

Thank you for responding. I think I’m going to go with Sluggo. I really do appreciate your time.

I used Sluggo for the first time this spring. It seemed to be affective. My dogs and wildlife didn't appear to be drawn to it like they have to Cory's in the past. Be aware if they do seem to be drawn to it. New evidence has come up that it can poison pets. http://www.hostalibrary.org/firstlook/RRIronPhosphate.htm I do think it is the safest so far on the market for those slimy mollusca.[/url]

Scotty this may sound a little gruesome. But if you see them out and about take a salt shaker and sprinkle salt on them. They foam up and die. He,he,he,he,he, die you little slimy buggers, die. I also us the DE in my garden to deal with them when I don't have my salt shaker handy.

Boy, I wish that I had a hedgehog to eat-up my slugs. So far this year, I have not had a great deal of trouble with slugs. I guess that the blackbirds and thrushes are doing their work along with the dryness that we have had this summer.

Gosh--I wouldn't know what folks in Florida could use to combat these pernicious creatures. They can be a problem anywhere you have a garden.

A good friend gave me a slug trap and when they are particularly bad, I trap them in the traps and then dispose of them when it is full.

Like everyone else in the country, we just salt them. They say that beer traps work well too. Just a lid or small can buried about level with the soil top and por some beer it about half full of beer. Stale or flat works well. They try to get at the beer and drown in it.
