OK, I got a new camera for Christmas. It is a Canon A2500.
I haven't been able to post my new pictures here, I get a message that they are too big.
This also occurs when I try with my work camera. A Sony.
I do not have a very good understanding of just how to change the size(or do much of anything on my computer, for that matter!!)
Sorry this is a plea from me for some simple instructions.
Is there a setting on the camera?
I always import my pics to Picasa from my memory card. I have been trying to figure this out today, but I need help! Thanks...

I use GIMP...it's a free image manipulation program.
It's an easy to use and FREE version of the $$$ Photoshop.

Can't be done on the camera though. Doesn't Picasa have a resizing feature? According to their home page you can 'transform your photos' so I would think that would include resizing. Picasa won't run on my computer because I run Linux and not Windows so I don't know for sure what they include in that feature.

Frank also included some links in the How To: Resize Photos topic

    Open Windows Photo Gallery.
Select the photo to be resized.
On the top tool bar select Edit.
On the edit page select resize.

I use windows photo gallery too ... it seems to be the easiest way. There should also be a setting on your camera to adjust the size of the photo. I prefer to adjust the size on my computer.

I forgot to mention you can batch resize also. Just hold down the shift key when selecting photos.

Just download this free, small, and ultra easy graphic program called Irfan View from here:
    http://www.irfanview.com/

All of my pictures pass through this. Best of all, it is super quick when it comes to processing! So unlike other programs which are a resource hug, this one will only take a second! By the way, Irfan View can also function as a great video player too! :D

See this video to learn how easy it is:

Multiple pictures (batch resizing) can also be done in a second:

I use Arcsoft Photo Impression 6,,it came either with my camera or computer. Have you looked at your programs to see if there is one already installed ? Photo Impression is simple and easy to use. You can probably get it online at Download.com if you don`t have one but most computers come with the software installed already for pics.

Thank you all for replying. I have yet to get it figured out. (I told you I am not good with this stuff!!)
A friend is willing to talk me through it later. He is really good at showing me what to do, letting me do it while he tutors.

Hello again, I was successful, and have a few of my new pics posted in my garden. Used Picasa and a good friend to talk me through the process. ;)
