Hello! I stumbled across these forums from a Google search for "tiny black bugs on watermelon plants" and because I'm a pretty clueless gardener I decided to stay. :stew2: We have a 4x6 raised bed at the moment, with cherry tomatoes, banana peppers, bell peppers, tomatoes, watermelon and one stubborn zucchini plant. We also have a container garden around our back porch, with rosemary, lavender, citronella geranium, pentas and petunias. We're just north of Dallas, TX. I'm going to start poking around a bit, but I did find an answer to my bug problem! :)

Hi WeeGreenSheepie, welcome form a very distant hot and humid land.

If you can post a picture of those pesky tiny black bugs I'm sure someone might be able to identify it and provide a solution.

Wow!!! You really had a lot going in your 4X6 raised bed.

Oops ... Great you already got an answer to your bug problem.

Welcome and have a nice time here!!!

Welcome to the forum! We are in central Texas, but there are several other Texans here, covering most of the state.
That 4x6 bed is packed! Do you plan to branch out and put in another one for next year?

Welcome! I'm from Texas now, too. I think Toni lives up near Dallas. We live between Dallas and Houston along side of I-45. I really like living in Texas.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. It's been a busy weekend and I've not had a chance to sit down at my computer since Friday!

Yes, actually, now that I've got the bug, so to speak, we're planning for two more 4x6 beds and probably two 5x5 beds. We just kind of threw a bunch of plants into the garden and hoped that some of them took; we actually did lose quite a few of our early plants - honestly, I thought we were going to lose them all at one point, but they survived. One mistake I won't make next year is putting watermelon in with other plants - holy moley they have almost taken over the bed!

I've got lots of pictures, so will definitely post! Thanks again for the welcome!
