First one I found at a thrift store and couldn't resist the bright green of it. It's attached to the wall out back and holds cutters, trowels, gloves and assorted necessities.

Second one I got from in-laws storage container, used to belong to my sis-in-law but she got divorced and moved.
    It holds Petunias every year.

Third one found, found in a junque shop somewhere. It is planted with Dianthus in the back yard.

Fourth one found at the long garage sale called Antiques Alley back in April. This one holds cutters, trowels, gloves and assorted necessities in the front garden and since the brackets we used to attach it to the fence had curliques on the end it also holds two old and holey enamel pitchers.

Mailboxes always look so appealing. I think you did a terrific job transforming yours Toni. Which is your favourite of the four?

I think your mail boxes look so much better holding tools and plants than just boring, old mail. Do you think you'll get any more Toni and, if so, what would you use them for?

Cheryl, our regular mail box which was new when this house was built in 1967 will soon be replaced with this....

Cleaned up, painted barn red with a new roof of painted on shingles most likely in....oh, I don't know yet. Then Randy will get it mounted out front and the mail man won't have to be coming up on the porch to deliver mail.

Frank, thanks, my favorite is the green one because it was my first and I love the color. I really like the looks of
#4 because of the pitchers hanging under it. I had thought about painting or decorating them in some way but I like things original.

Eileen, if I find one that speaks to me and the price is right I just might add to the collection. I can see one mounted horizontally on top of a post with a plant trailing out of the opened front.

I love them for storage cabinets. I have at least 4 or 5.

I have one that will sit on a veggie garden post for holding that kind of stuff too ... IF the fence ever gets put up!

I love your ideas Toni. I may copy a few... ;)

I have a spare one that I fixed up for the birds to have shelter in bad weather. I am not sure if they use it or not. I have it up under the overhang on my old dilapidated shed. I did stuff some straw in there for bedding.

Thanks to toni I copied her and now have about 6 throughout the property for each area. There may be dried blood or moth crystals or clippers or rose spray or cloves in a zip lock baggie. Whatever is needed nearby. I also have many in the garage waiting to be put up for other areas.

Thank you toni....it's a great convenient idea.

What an interesting use of mailboxes. You may be onto something here.

I like them! I have used them before just to hold a few tools in different parts of the garden before but I've never thought of planting in them. I really like the one with old coffee pots.
