Last Oct, my mom moved to North Carolina to live with her bf (now husband). Last month, she decided to stay there and sell her house, where my sisters and I are living. So we have to find new places to live. I have a friend, Karl, in Columbus, IN who jumped at the chance to have me *lol* So Ill probably be moving within the next month or so.
He knows how much I enjoy gardening and his yard and flower beds are pretty sad looking, so he's given me free rein to do what I like :D I've been spending 1.5-2 days every week at his place, and since yesterday and today was so warm and sunny, I decided to do some bed renovating.

Of course, I'm still not finished! The irises will be cleaned up and divided when they're done flowering. Not sure how old they are. My friend has only lived here 2.5 years.
Wondering what to do with the backyard. He has a young, rather destructive dog, and a LOT of weeds O_O
Good news is, he's got much better soil than moms house does!

What an improvement you've made already Jen. Karl must be so pleased that you'll be moving in with him and tending his garden. Having free range to do what you like must be a great feeling. Keep up the good work and, before you know it, you'll have everything ship shape and looking even more fantastic.

This sounds like a winning situation for your friend Bip. He gets a great housemate and also a pretty yard :flower:

Wow! What a difference! Isn't it wonderful to have a whole new canvas to paint? ;)

Thanks all! I will be bringing a few plants from moms, like Sedum and some daylilies. Maybe some Coneflower. Probably some mint cuttings as well. He has plenty of Spearmint or Sweet mint (hes not sure which lol), but I have chocolate mint :p

What fun to have free rein to design and plant what you want! You've made a great start with the nicely shaped flower beds and plants.
