This is Lorelei, a very old fashioned iris. Very dependable. Rarely gets Iris borer. It's light yellow standards almost glow at dusk and early morning. Never needs staking, grows in part shade. What's not to like? IMG_20200604_091206_compress77.jpg
I'll have to take a photo of it at dusk so you can see what I mean about it's luminosity.
This photo doesn't do it justice.

Cayuga, if that photo doesn't do the iris justice, I may not be able to survive a photo that does! They are so lovely, so tranquil somehow.

Oh, that's a beauty alright Cayu. It's name conjures up memories of the legend of the nymph, doesn't it. The nymph that had such singular beauty that when she showed herself and sung from that high cliff above the Rhine that captains would be so enchanted with her beauty that they would loose control of their vessels in that strong current and would crash and those on board would loose their lives.

Well, this iris is one of a handful that really are stand-outs.
You have such a nice clump.

It's a pity I live in Scotland or I would take you up on your offer. At least I can spend time drooling over your photograph and imagine them in my garden.
