I bought 4 large Quince at the store last weekend and used recipe for pear jam for the sugar amount per 4 cups of pulp and a recipe for Plum jelly for the Quince jelly. And since I had a little leftover of both jam and jelly after filling the jars, the extra went into bowls for us to eat first and both came out delicious!!
It looks really good. I like that color. I've never made Quince anything. I think they don't grow here. I have not had any to even try. dooley
My quince bush doesn't produce enough fruits to make quince jelly with but yours certainly looks delicious Toni.
Atta girl, Toni!!! I am most interested in what you thought of the flavour and aroma. Do you like it? You do the same as I do with the loftovers. I don't like wasting one tiny bit. Your jam and jelly looks really good. You did a great job there, and you have enough to last you awhile, don't you. Well done.
It really is good, makes me think of pear but with a bit of a spicy flavor almost like cinnamon. And it smells very good while cooking too. I was amazed at how much those 4 Quince made. I had 14 cups of Jam and 6 cups of jelly. We won't get to keep it all. Our oldest daughter tasted it when she stopped by this evening and wants a couple jars of the jam when it is ready and I think a couple of jars will go to my brother for Christmas.
Yes...that flavour and fragrance is difficult to describe alright. It makes one think of several things, but it really is something unique. I'm chuffed that you had such a great success.
Your jam and jelly has the most tempting colour. It looks like sunshine in a jar! No wonder you hardly get to tighten the lids before it's all flown away.
