Starts out like this. Thought that was it but... GOT this Much to my surprize :!: So pretty hanging on the porch. Any info please. Also how to make more.
It's a Hoya, and a lovely one too! Congratulations on your new friend. We call them porcelain flowers here in Norway. They require normal care, and can even tolerate drying out now and then.
Beautiful. I water mine when I happen to think about it. Really doesn't mind drying out between waterings.
That is very pretty. Do seeds come from the flowers? I'm unfamiliar with the plant, but its so pretty.
Gizmo its looks just like my Hoya. Mine has such a fantastic smell.You have a wonderful plant.They don't like direct sun and not a real thirsty plant.Mine is in a hanging basket.I hang mine in a tree shade much of the time.
Gorgeous! I have several Hoya plants, does yours have a beautiful scent, Gizmo? Many of them do. A couple of things, 1. as mentioned, don't over-water, I let mine get quite dry, and 2. do not remove or damage the stubby little stem that the flowers bloom from (I don't even pull off the spent flowers, just let them fall on their own). Your plant will bloom again and again for seasons to come on those same little nubs. And, you asked about propagation, I prefer working with cuttings, about 6-8 inches long, I remove the leaves closest to the cut end which I dip in a rooting hormone powder (this also helps to stem the flow of the milky sap). then I tuck the stem in a pot of damp sphagnum moss. Most common Hoyas seem to root in about 4 - 6 weeks. Sometimes, if you examine your plant carefully, you may even see roots that have already begun to form on the vine, in that case, all you have to do is to take the cutting, including those roots, and pot it right up. :
Thanks for all your comments. Zuzu's I already pulled the dry spent flowers looking for seeds(only 3 thank goodness). I wont do it again They do smell really nice. Sitting on the porch in the morning smelling them just wake me up The vines are getting all tangeled together (I didn't try to undo it tho)There's noway to repot this one
I do love mine Gizmo.A friend brought me the cutting to work before I left.They grow quiet long and will root on the ground .You could start more plants from those too.I do love the smell.Jubabe has one that has no smell but is beautiful.
