Hello from Miami. I'm designing a reflecting pool/pond with an Indian twist. It's a basic 4' x 6' concrete shallow pond with a 26" sandstone Hindu statue in the middle that has water flowing out the center. The depth depends on what are the best plants to be used in the pool. The concrete pond will be stained dark grey slate to match the master bath that opens up to garden pool. We would like to see, water lilies or lotus as well as plants that resemble water iris. We like color with an Asian flair. Behind the pool is planned a Buddha belly bamboo plant that will be backlit with either low voltage or solar spot lights so that the silhouette of the statue is visible from the bathroom.

So my question to you is which plants should I use?

Should I treat the concrete with something or is it safe for the plants?

What pump and filter should I use?

    What about algae?
