I bought this 6 in. cardboard palm at the local Vons about 5 weeks ago. It immediately began sprouting two shoots that are now almost 4 ft. tall! They grow about an inch a day and show no signs of stopping.
What they heck is going on? I thought cardboard palms grew really S L O W L Y. The plant is indoors but near a window, and I water it every 10 days. No fertilizer used.
Anyone have any explanation or suggestions?

Gosh that is strange!! :-? I've never seen a Zamia Furfuracea produce anything like the long stalks yours has. Even its flowers don't grow on anything as long as far as I know. Perhaps someone else can enlighten us both about what is going on with your plant.
