    Hi there,

I am not 100% sure if Peppermint considered as a herb. Can anyone confirm that please?
I started forming these babies from tiny tiny seeds and it took 3-4 weeks to sprout. They are growing very slow, is there any way to make the growing faster? I like to use the leaves for tea. However i don't want to buy the grown plant from the store anymore because they ALWAYS bring some kind of bug i can't even see on it home :(

An Herb is any plant that is used for food, flavoring, medicine or fragance. So basically many
plants are by definition Herbs and certainly your Peppermint is an Herb.

I vote, yes on the herb part. I don't know what kind of soil or non soil you are using for germination but i think you need to leave them where they are because they are too small to change the potting medium. Are they getting plenty of indirect light (as in not direct sun)? Growing from seed is also preferred because you know that something nasty like pesticides, insecticides, etc. have not contaminated them. And remember moist but not wet. And remember to have patience:like:

I've always considered it an herb.

I love making peppermint tea. Iced. SO refreshing in the summer!

We have different mints growing all over our yard. We use them in some places for ground cover. They do very well in our jumgle and Peg knows which one is which. All I know weed eating is a wonderful smelling job at our house.:)

Which Mint is the BEST and most culinarily (is that a word) useful on to grow? Each year we get in lots of varieties - choclate/pineapple/spear etc etc. Which is the BEST to use in cooking?

Mentha spicata (Spearmint) is the 'mother' of the hybrids available now...i.e. Chocolate, Pineapple, etc. . Spearmint is most likely the one often used in cooking but then that would depend on what flavor you like in the dish.
