I'm finding mixed answers on the web. Is phlox paniculata deer resistant or not? I'm confused because many sites claim phlox is deer food, yet many others, such as the online stores are claiming tall summer phlox as deer resistant. Thanks, bhomis
I know that Creeping Phlox or Thrift (Phlox Subulata) and Phlox Divaricata (Woodland Phlox) are said to be deer resistant but I'm not sure about your Phlox Paniculata (Garden Phlox.) Hopefully someone else will be able to tell you for sure.
The deer love to help themselves to my mother's phlox, so my vote is NO when it comes to deer resistance.
Could some be deer resistant? Okay, so it seems as though everyone agrees they're deer candy, but there are sites selling them, claiming their deer resistance. http://www.dutchbulbs.com/store/perennials/phlox/14235 http://www.veseys.com/ca/en/store/fallb ... /phloxblue http://myfolia.com/plantings/46232-phlo ... paniculata Is it just false advertising? bhomis
Re: Could some be deer resistant? Possibly not, they may have a fence or live in a city I guess it depends on the deer population in your area and the feeding pressure, remember 'resistance' is relative. Those are national companies. BTW that Blue Paradise Phlox you linked to looks nice.
