This is a conclusion to my posting Motorcycle Riding for Pleasure. I have decided against it. I tried riding a motorcycle and I find myself to be very tense instead of relaxed and enjoying it. I had some problem in balancing, not really knowing exactly where what is so I had the unpleasant experience of dropping when coming to a stop. I guess I have to relearn doing it on a smaller bike which I do not want to. The other thing is the weather it is just too hot and just from the short ride I had I was already sweating lots. The exhaust fumes from the buses and trucks are choking too! Anyway I tried and follow this 3 simple rules in life.
Mate, you get full marks for pursuing a dream, but after your ride you can see the dangers. I have been to your city and I know what the traffic is like. That alone would have put me off. Personally, I am glad that you gave up on this motorcycle idea, now we will have you around for many more years. Thanks for this posting, I was wondering how it went with the acquisition of a motorcycle.
KK, having you on the Stew is so much more valuable than having you zipping about as a "motorcycle meanie." Remember, "if at first you don't succeed, try something else." How about horseback riding?
Thank you all for your concern. Thanks Sjoerd, you are right it is only after ride that I see the dangers. The traffic is now very much worst. Thanks Mart ... golf cart ... great idea!!! Marlingardener, thank you. Horse riding here is almost impossible, I think a golf cart is easier hehe!
I salute your decision, KK. You tried what you wanted to, decided against it for good reasons, and that's admirable in my opinion. At least you now know what you won't be missing.
Sounds like a wise decision. There have been many things that I have had to give up. One thing I have learned is how miserable it can be to be hospitalized. Even in the garden I often try too hard and pay for it with too much pain and fatigue!
