The Potato Leaf Tomato is now almost an adult now ... no it is indeed a young adult! What a beautiful sight Yes its first truss of flowers soon to be beautiful fruits. My only point of concern now is that I'll be away for a week for Christmas and is keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will assist in keeping this very precious plant happy.
it looks well established. I would think it would be okay. they are tropical and can take a lot of heat. I just hope it survives while you are gone. have a nice trip.
crossed that nothing happens to your tomato plant while you're gone KK. It certainly is looking really healthy now. Have a good trip.
So jealous...i'm may have to try that particular type of tomato...one that can definitely take the heat!!! Awesome very healthy-looking tomato plant. I think i'm more intrigued with the flower head. Have a safe trip and Merry Christmas!!
Hummerbum, the flower is probably a fused flower. this is the usually the first flower a plant produces and the fruit is an ugly mess as it grows and ripens. I usually pinch those off as I find them.
Thank you all and Merry Christmas! Thanks Carolyn, I sure hope that it would rain a little when I'm away anyway AccuWeather had promised that there will be some rain . Thanks Eileen, all my fingers and toes are crossed too!!! Thank you Sjoerd Hummerbum your tomatoes are great too, yes Carolyn is right about the flowers, the one that look different is actually 3 flowers fused together at the stalk. At the moment the flowers look separated and I am very curious how the fruits would be like. Carolyn I'll leave the fused flowers for awhile before I decide to pinch it off. If I were to leave it would it have any ill effect on the others? Sure Mart , thanks.
You can leave it. it won't affect the following flowers or fruit, but it will be a big UGLY fruit. not a slicer. you will have to cut and chunk it to eat it. I just pinch them off because they are ugly and not marketable.
Nice going KK,..looks very healthy it will be interesting to see the fruit,..fingers crossed all will be well with it while you are away,..enjoy your trip and have a Happy Safe Christmas.
Thank you Philip, it's flowering now and I guess the fruit will be a new year surprise for me! A MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU too!!!
KK- that is a healthy looking plant. I have not heard of this type. Keep us posted on the results of your harvest when the time arrives. Safe travels and wishes for happy holidays to you!
