this is an Amarylis that something enjoyed munching on. I suspect a snail in the wee hours of the night. I will have damaged blooms but I am happy to have a bloom at all because for two years they (4 of them) did not bloom. They were moved fall 06, did not bloom spring 07, but are thriving this year. A look at some lilies and a furry shasta daisy. [/img]
Stunnnn-NING lillies and that frilly daisy is just too much for my senses! heh heh heh I have never seen such a thing. I really like daisies, especially as a cut flower, but they can smell so awful. For that reason we don't have them in the house much anymore---but boy, oh boy...do I ever enjoy them in the garden. I'm happy to leave them where they are. Yes, so tell me more about this frilly daisy: what is the latin name for this gorgeous creature. Is it a hybrid? That sure does look like snail damage, doesn't it. Have you looked around the area to try and find the culpret? They often sleep-off their meal not too far from the reataurant--like on the underside of leaves, on stems or nestled into the soil slightly undercover. This uninvited skarfer really should be found and dispatched. It's alarming, what he's done. Good luck locating the dastardly diner. I'm having quite a problem with slugs and snails as well at the moment. I get really aggressive in the early spring and then have much less trouble later on. I look very hard for egg clusters as well.
Awwww your poor amarylis - nasty little critters snails!!! :-x I do love your lilies and that fluffy little daisy and they look as though they've escaped the jaws of that slimey monopod. :-D Hope you manage to find the culprit and sent him on his way to snail heaven.
Great flowers...I love the frilly daisy. Good luck with the critters. I'm battling red squirrels here.
Sjoerd, I'm usualy away from home when I post. But I will get the name of the daisy for you as soon as I can. I thought it was a must have.
I love all the blooms and sorry your Amaryllis was messed up.The lillies and fuzzy daisy is stunning.
