I hate exposed cables to my various audio equipment. They can be a trip hazard. There's a lot of stuff in this wall unit that need an electrical supply. The unit itself has six lights, plus one in each in the two bottom cupboards. Then there's the turntable, tuner/amp and cassette player. Then my jukebox wall box system, for which there's this double socket in the cupboard. One for a 25v transformer to power the boxes' mechanism, the other to power the adapter. There's two sets of cables with quck-release connectors, for when I want to change over the wall boxes. The two strip lights needed a double socket on top of the unit for their adapters. The other wire is the VHF aerial for the radio. The power to the lot comes from this one plug in a corner, via a bit of conduit attached to the skirting board. The other socket supplies the power to multi-adapter for the TV and all the stuff under it. Behind the unit there's a lot of connection blocks to feed all the apparatus. Fortunately, although the wall unit is only a couple of inches away from the wall, I can slide out the top three sections on the slightly raised side of the drawer unit a few more inches, quite easily, to get at any of the connectors. There's a lot of stuff on one plug, but it's very low amperage, so not a problem. I've a similar arrangement, for my electric piano, its amplifier and the sheet music light, on the other side of the room.
