I usually don't get these birds to my yard..but I caught him here today. They are a noisy bird that draws you away from their nest by pretending they are hurt...the make a lot of noise for little birds..they nest on the ground. I was so excited to see them in my yard that I didn't answer the phone when it rang...
We don't have them here, but have had them when we lived in the southern part of the state. They always act like they have a broken wing to lure you away from their nests. Fun to watch!
That's such a pretty, little bird. I love the stripes in his face. Our small birds don't do that trick, but some of the large ones do.
Very cute little bird. How do you always manage to catch the birds? Do you have a powerful zoom on your camera or do you actually get that close? Great pics.
I do have a zoom on it but I was only 25 feet away from them. If you hold still enough and don't wear bright clothes (I notice a difference if I wear a red jacket or a blue, they seem to fly away when I have the red on) they go about their business. I take a lot of pictures to pick the best from. Sometimes I take a chair and lower my tripod so I can just sit and wait for the right moment.

Wrennie...I hope he doesn't nest in my yard...I have 2 dogs. If he picked the pergola area then he would really have to protect the nest from other birds...it was just neat to see him here but usually they go for open fields with not much traffic...
