I have about 50 + locust trees on my property. They are in bloom now and they are humming from the bees in them. The hummingbirds are feasting also.

Here is a closeup of the bloom.

What lovely flowers locust trees have. They remind me of white wisteria blossoms. Are they scented?

Eileen they have a very powerful perfumery smell to them. Deanna, I don't think so as all of mine bloom, but you might. I know of two type of locust. These are Honey Locusts. There is a Black locust that dosen't bloom which I have also. They get thorns on them that can be up to a foot long. They are bad for mower tires.

That truly is a beautiful tree. I wonder if it's related to the yellow-flowering Laburnum we can grow around here?

I guess I have the Black Locust. It does have some nasty thorns and banana shaped seed pods. Beautiful tree though. I envy your beautiful white blooms!

Yes the seed pods can get huge. That's one reason I have a mulching mower deck. I just chop them up. The rabbits and squirrels do eat them in the winter time.

Ooohhh, I just love the Locust blooms! Our Locust trees are extremely slow this year and are just now starting to turn green.
I can't wait for the blooms!

At my old house, we planted a purple crown locust. It had blooms like wisteria, but more on the pink side. They looked like your white blossoms there.

Glendann, if the bloom looks like this, then they are probably Honey locust. Black locust have a teeny tiny yellow bloom that you can barely see. Honey locusts are rot resistent too. The farmers used to use the smaller ones for fence post. There are some in the fence row behind me that have been in the ground for at least 60 years and are still slid as a rock.
