I have an orange tree that has dead branches on one side, but on the other, the many branches are lush green and bear wonderful fruit. It looks very lopsided because of this. Is it possible that it will get so heavy on one side that the tree will topple over? Should I trim the good side heavily, so that it matches the bad side? I'm really afraid to cut off the dead branches for fear that the tree will fall over. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Katy

PS I live in the desert southwest. I had a bad year one year with termites, but managed to get those under control. I feed the tree with organic tree stakes every six months, but do little else except water. The tree is a minimum of 8 years old and I think older. The circumference of the trunk is 16 inches; I just tape measured it around the thickest part. Thanks again for any replies; I'll return tomorrow. Have a good night.
