I have lots of these plants because I keep dividing them. The flowers are a nice bright ornage and last some time. When I divide them they are bulbs or corms. Can you name this plant and how to cultivate the right way. The leaves die back in winter. Thank you.
David I have lots of these - they are Crocosmia. Take a look at this link for how to care for them. https://www.gardenia.net/guide/learn-how-to-plant-and-care-for-your-crocosmia
We have about 150 different cultivars of the Crocosmia in our plant database but only these have photos and growing information. quite a while back we had a couple of members who were passionate about growing them. See if any of these look like your blooms. Crocosmia X crocosmiiflora (Montbretia) Crocosmia 'Paniculata Red Form Ex. Kologha, SA' Crocosmia 'Lucifer' Crocosmia 'Mars' Crocosmia 'Hill House' Crocosmia 'Cally Greyleaf' Crocosmia 'Emberglow' (Montbretia )
One of those very strange plant misnomers. Crocosmia has never been called Montbretia anywhere in print, but the name is still used. Odd.
Hello Palustris, After reading all the posts and looking up the plant further you have a point. Odd. David M.
