Was repotting some baby white strawberry plants from a tray into individual pots and on gently tipping out of the tray several approx 1x2cm leaf capsules fell out. They are perfectly cylindrical and contained a small white worm in a pool of slime. I am curious to what they actually are.

Possibly leaf cutter bee pupae. I have just found some in a seed tray too. I managed to relocate them in another pot of compost and hopefully they will survive.

Talked to a bee expert at Dunham Massey NT property yesterday and he agreed they are Bee larva. As long as the cylinder is still intact then they should be ok. The parent fills the cylinder with pollen to feed the developing grub and it then hatches (I hope!) in due time.
