I found this article on AP News this morning. Good reading, good advice, and saves money (something dear to my heart!). https://apnews.com/article/plants-gardening-homemade-fertilizer-e3271f22cc56d30bc525df9e2ec73a9f
I use eggshells, coffee grounds, wood ashes. I dry and save the chicken bones from making dog food, and burn them in the woodstove with firewood. Chicken bones are high in calcium and phosphorus. I collect tree leaves from the neighborhood each fall. Those become mulch, which breaks down into compost. My soil is much richer than it used to be.
Very good advice in that article. Thanks for linking to it. I've never thought about not throwing out my egg-boiling water, but now I do. Eggshells and coffe grounds are used, and will be used more once I get the compost bins up and running again.
If you ever needed one more reason to cook without salt and add it afterwards then this article points out how adding salt can defeat your efforts to be more efficient and organic.
