Last night there was a shooting about 3 miles from me. It was at a township meeting. It was a fellow who's property was being condemned. He killed 3 people and injured more.

It was on the national news. that was not outside of Philadelphia....That's 2 and a half hours from us. I am in the north eastern part of the state.

It was just south of me and I probably knew some of the people that were at the meeting in the township building. They just have not released the info yet. I was up much of the night talking to a friend who lives down the street from this guy. The road is closed because they feel he may have added bombs to his house. They will check this morning.

    How sad is that???

I will add that before I moved here I visited the officials to ask questions and made a decision not to move to that township because of the officials...They were rude and not caring and Godly.. Would not work with anyone, AT ALL.

I saw the headlines. It is a shame that people feel they must settle disputes with shootings.

Yes. They had been trying to get him to fix his sewer problems forever and it went to court last week. His house was condemned and he had to get out. He was staying in his car for this last week. Then he just snapped. He wasn't real stable anyway.

They still haven't released all the info and they are just now getting onto his property. They thought he had explosives there.

More and more of our "disputes" are being settled with gunfire. My heart goes out to the families of those killed, and to the wounded, and even to the shooter.
Where is our civilization heading? :'(

Barb, scary. I feel for all the people involved here. It is so surreal when "stuff" we aren't expecting happens right "at home". Prayers and thoughts for all who are touched by this tragedy.

Where is our civilization heading? Well, straight into the gutter if you ask me, (sorry if me saying so offends anyone)... Basically, it's all a result of over population, over crowding - Generally speaking, same size planet, but with a population growing at a ferocious rate - Equals to perpetually shrinking resources. Exactly like how rats breed out of control.

So the first symptom that we see is an increase in pressure, leading to a feeling of general dissatisfaction. That will gradually become frustration, and so not too far from this, will come the breaking point. So the end result is what we see on the news... In the past such situations brought on the onset of things like the French Revolution. And a long time after that similar circumstances brought in Marxism (when the well of people were instantly treated as criminals for holding on to too much). And of course who can forget the historic lessons of how Naziism came to power...

The way I see it is that humanity is a forever expanding entity. So before the global population had crossed 5 and a half billion (in the late 80s), humanity should have started to colonize space, (as only a forever expanding universe can truly support a forever expanding species). The Earth is simply just not able to do it anymore. The breaking point has come, actually it came 25 years ago (but nobody realized it than)... It just took one tragic disaster, and our will for space exploration was thwarted...

And soon after this the Soviet Union also collapsed. Therefore the need to outdo one and another took the backseat. So this is how we entered the boring 1990s. Where once the newest breakthrough in the fields of science and technology was the hot topic on the news - Then got replaced with real life soap operas.

So the decade that should have been the most productive, in hindsight is now perhaps the most wasteful. The result is that now nations do a false flag operation, and then use that as an excuse to invade another minerally rich nation. Leading to an extreme hike in fuel prices (when the plan fails).

All of this, is simply because the population is forever growing, while the resources are shrinking. So anyone who gains control of everything of value now, will have a much easier time in the future...

But, all this could have easily been prevented, had humanity ventured into space. In the mid 80s, when I would say all of this, I only got a smile from people, who then said: Cute kid (and then ignored everything that I had said)... So now even if we try to colonize space, the cost will be so much, that no nation can do it alone. And since there is now a sense of deep distrust between all the nations (as a result of recent events). Means that we will now never get a chance to escape.

So I too now have no choice but to become a "Doomsday Prepper"!

Not because I like to - But because I know, I really know, that someday someone out of nowhere will come to take something of mine (which may have some value). At which point I will have no choice but to resist. but they may come wearing uniforms, justified with unjust laws (exactly like how they came for the aristocracy when Communists took control of Russia) - And so I will then instantly become the bad guy, for just minding my own business.

But people like me will never submit to anyone. So when push comes to shove, the breaking point of everyone like me isn't too far away.

This is why I love horticulture, and this is why I come to this place. Because as a Doomsday Prepper, it is always smart to grown your own food, and so not be dependant on anyone! But the next level of preparation, is how to protect whatever is yours... Or someone from somewhere (when you are least expecting it) will come and take it away from you, usually by force.
