I hope she stays away from my garden

Is it normal for one hen to be out by herself? I usually see them around here in flocks....

Is that a Guinea Hen? Good bug eater.

Your picture is fine, I just am not familiar with identifying wildlife, living in the middle of a big city :-? We have gotten that Guinea Hen, a couple of rabbits and a 'possum tho.
A wild turkey would definitely end up in a neighbors stew pot here. My Mom lives out in west Texas and sees them when she goes up to the cemetary to visit my Dad.

I hope she stays away from your garden, they can wreak havoc! A flock of them decided to roost on Mom's grape arbor. What a mess!! After they ate grapes they moved on :-D

I've never seen one before either!! I do know that the quail arround here tend to get a bit more isolated when the others are busily incubating eggs, perhaps she just stepped off her nest for a bite?

There are literally hundreds of Turkeys roaming the fields around my house. The only time they came into my yard was one year we had a lot of snow and they came to peck under the apple trees where the snow had melted. They are funny birds to watch!! I've never manged to get a good photo of them.

Andy said his father-in-law gave the boys a turkey tent because it wasn't tall enough for him to stand up. It's a camo tent that you use when you hunt turkeys so there must be some where they live. None here that I know of. Just quail and doves. Dooley

I see them from time to time in cow pastures, but haven't had any in my garden. They seem like they are pretty shy....maybe she's just passing through?

I think it's a pretty good picture, it is hard to get such a clear picture without the heavy duty camera lenses for distance.

Nice. Turkeys are on the rise here but are always a welcome site.

Richard said if the hen lands in a place and goes to eating and clucks, then the rest of the flock will come to eat, kinda like a scout. I know we saw a lone hen on the way to work the last week.

If you throw out some dry corn you will have so many you won't know what to do with them. They roost in the trees at night so look up you might just be missing a few.
