Last week I had the cutest little mallard ducklings in our backyard of our property....The female duck was teaching them and trying to keep them close most of the time but some times they drifted away and then suddenly they would swim back to her...

Super foto's Sherry. Really impressive to see.
The subjects were a given...but you were the one clicking the shutter. Chapeau!

There's nothing nicer than seeing a little family of ducklings.

Yesterday I found another Mother duck and her 7 little ones...at first I was thinking it was the same (they were farther away) ones until I counted them...so cute.. Plus this Mother duck didn't have a feather on its side sticking up like the last one... July 2, 2018 047 (2).jpg

The Mother Duck in the first group of pictures has lost 5 of her 6 baby ducks...not sure how but with so many dangers for them on the lake. Eagles and other large birds, large fish in the water, boats and jet ski's to name a few dangers... I recognized her because of her feather sticking up yesterday and she only had 1 baby duck with her... :(

It's so sad to hear that the first mother duck has lost so many of her brood. Let's hope the last one survives and that the second batch don't suffer in the same way.
