My poor daylilies aren't getting a chance to establish themselves. Last year since I redid my backyard, I had to move them and this year we moved to a new house. They are still trying though and most of them have 1 or 2 flowers. Here they are this year : Day lily ( photo / image / picture from Tina's Garden ) Day lily ( photo / image / picture from Tina's Garden ) This one seemed distorted in one side: Day lily ( photo / image / picture from Tina's Garden ) Red but a different shade : Day Lily ( photo / image / picture from Tina's Garden )
Most daylilies are forgiving when they move. They will improve each year. You can help them along mid-season in their new home by giving them a sprinkling of 10-10-10 granular fertilizer available at most garden centers. Then next year as the new season begins, give them another sprinkling, working the fertilizer into the upper layer of soil. Daylilies also like their water. Watering is important in the Spring as the plants are forming new scapes. During the blooming period don't water in the heat of mid-day. Try to water in the evening, avoiding getting water on the buds, this avoids spots on the flowers as they open. Jerry
