It got down to 21 deg. F. this morning, so I got a fire going in the wood burner. I had the Eden Pure heater going earlier, but it was having a hard time keeping up. Just a small fire going to take the chill off. Once the rooms warm up, I'll let it go out.

We had a small fire in the wood burning stove a few nights ago when the temps were in the low 40's. It did take the chill off the house, and cheered us, also. There's nothing like a wood fire (as long as it's contained!).

I have been using our gas fireplace...with a blower, it sure does heat up the room.

Our woodstove has been burning 24/7 for almost a month. Did I mention lately how much I hate winter?

Netty...every year I hate winter more...and every time we get that wet heavy snow and I have to clean it up. My husband usually does it but if he is gone, it is all mine to deal with....ughhhhhhhhhhhhh

I have not fired up the fireplace as the temps have not gone down to the 20's. That will change soon as colder weather arrives. Looks like you will not have any problem staying warm Captain.

We have old time cellar. And wood furnace. We put 2 pickup loads of dry red elm. Boy that sure helps on the heating bill. But We said after doing it for 40 + years. Gets to be a lot of work.. Checked into a new log spliter $1400.

Kid, have you tried Tractor Suppy Center? Ours has 20 ton splitters for between $900 and $ 1000.That's where I got mine about 15 years ago. Farm and Fleet has them for about the same price too.
