Most perennials are still green and some are blooming again. The annuals went with a freeze back in December.

The Cardoon was taken down last August by the heat and drought but as soon as the weather cooled and we got a little rain it perked back up and has been growing all winter. We don't eat it, I just love the Thistles that bloom in early summer.

I tried to start a caterpillar garden but the drought took out most of the plants, then during the winter the Dill and Parsley started coming back. I picked up a couple of Chive plants yesterday to add and have some Broccoli seeds to stick out there too.

The Texas Gold Columbine is loving the cooler weather....Thanks Cheryl. The one in the pot is doing much better than one in the ground, I need to pot that one up.

These Gerbera are blooming again and there are buds on several others.

Two of my bearded Iris have buds getting bigger each day.

And the Sweet Violet is growing like crazy and appears to be getting ready to bloom too.

Since the weather people have taken the chance of Winter showing up later this month out of the forecast I am thinking these are just the beginnings of life coming back to my garden.

Its just astounding to see, Toni. Seeing the activity in your garden gives me hope and assurance that spring is coming. Those Gerbera's really do present a stark contrast to the ground don't they.
    So lovely.

How great to see some green plants and such beautiful Gerbera! Keep those pictures coming for all of us that are still having snowy weather.

Your flowers are beautiful toni. Even though we had a very mild winter everything went to sleep nicely. Some things tried to wake up a few weeks ago but quickly stopped in their tracks. The only way I get to see your kind of plants growing in the winter is to bring them into the greenhouse.

More of the Gerbera are blooming now and the Scabiosa are getting in on the blooming fun. The Iris are really beginning to set a lot of buds with two of them blooming nicely. The roses never really stopped blooming, just slowed down a bit.
Only two lonely Hyacinths showed up this year, I am surprised that that many made it through the long hot summer and even tried to bloom.

The sad thing is that with all these pretties showing up at least 6 weeks earlier than last year it means a short Spring and another long hot summer is in store of us.

Hoarfrost was covering everything. I looked beautiful like a fairy land. But cold, really cold.

Toni, I am right there with you, we had a wet winter but not terribly cold. Of course it was still colder than your weather, since almost all the perennials died down. Now it is time to enjoy spring with daffodils and forsythia in full bloom. Nice to have fresh flowers in the house again.
