Having had a beautiful cherry tree for 5 years which has fruited every year, this year is abundant with cherries again and they have all split, even though some are not ripe yet! It's heartbreaking and not quite sure what to do with all this lovely fruit. has anyone else had this problem and could it possibly be too much rail? moderator's note: added a more descriptive title to topic
Have you experienced a long dry spell followed by lots of rain? Sounds like too much rain too fast. Tight skin from a dry spell, the fruit takes in too much water and the skin cannot expand quickly enough. Jerry
My Stella cherry tree, I cannot believe how many cherries we have lost to the wet weather here in Bristol uk, yes we did have a few weeks of wonderful weather followed by at least a month of rain! So upsetting, but hey there's always next year. thanks a lot for replies,, Marlene allotment holder Bristol uk.
