I'm a ballroom dancer, so a very beloved image in the dance world holds center stage in my living room, over my couch. Since we moved here in October, I've been looking for a new frame for it. The old frame was a black matt, which worked well in my prior two houses, but absolutely does NOT work in this, my final and forever home, where I've decorated in the warm tones that I love best.

Finally found one that I love....its gold tones and slightly ornate corners look wonderful on the soft yellow of the walls, bring out the gold in the art, and contrast nicely with the red hue of the couch. You can't see the area rug in the photo, but it also works nicely with the gold touches in the rug too. I'm pleased with the result.

I think you've made the perfect choice for your image Ronni. Picking the right frame to suit a room isn't always easy but you've done it!! :-D

Ronni, You have to be happy with it. I love that frame.

Can't we see the rug also? We can piece it together in our minds. It looks like a very comfortable place to be.

Isn't it amazing how something can work well in one place and not another. I too just finished changing a beautiful frame to customize to a different location. I love your picture and frame.

Say Ronnie, I know this painting...or at least one like it. The one that I know is a painting called "Wedding Dance on the Beach", or something like that.
I am not sure it is the same, but tja!--it looks so familiar.

At any rate, your frame looks good around the painting and on the wall.

Sjoerd, it's actually called "The Singing Butler" and it's by Jack Vettriano, a scottish painter.

But you're definitely on the right track, he painted another, similar painting (lady in white dress, different background) called "Dance Me To The End of Love" and it looks like it's twilight.

We have a lovely coffee table that would work nicely in front of that couch, rather than the round one that you see in the picture.

But A. The couch has reclining end seats, so if we used it, I wouldn't be able to recline in my little corner of the couch

And B. I have toddler/small grandkids. That coffee table is rectangular, with sharp corners. So even though this one is glass (typically something I'd consider a no-no around young kids) because it's round, and VERY sturdy, it's safer imho.

    Love it

    Hi Ronni

Absolutely love the frame that you've chosen, it compliments both the painting and your décor so well.

So many people forget how important the frame is in showing off the artwork, but you have managed to blend the artwork into your décor by picking just the right weight and colour of frame.

    Good job

    Thank you so much!

I've since added an area rug to the room, and some accents to the wall that the frame is on. I like the way the accent pieces pick up the design of the rug. Also, thought it doesn't look like it in the photo because for some reason the colors are distorted, the lamp shade, metal flowers and art frame are all a similar burnished hue, pulling everything together very nicely, imho. I'm very pleased with the result. It's always gratifying to have what appears perfect in one's head actually BE perfect in real life!
