Where the wood burner sets was tiled with a light grey tile, but after 25 years, about a doz. of them had cracked. So we bought new tile at Home Depot and had their installers do the work. But they also had to move the 300 pound stove and put it back. Wed. they came in and removed the old tile and moved the stove out and laid the new tile. Today Thurs they came and grouted it and moved the stove back and hooked it back up. I had taken a before pic, but it wasn't in the camera, so it must not have taken, but here are the rest. This is from after all the old stuff was taken out. After the new tile was set in place. And the finished product. The tile have varying shades of yellow, tan and brown.
Handsome, very handsome, and those tiles will be easy to clean, too. The poor misguided souls who put in the wood burning stove in this house put it on brick, of all things. Impossible to clean. You've given me incentive to see what can be done for our hearth and wall behind the stove. Hope it comes out as well as yours!
Looking good Capt! We need to replace the tiles under our woodstove too...there are a few cracked ones. My husband wants brick, I hate the idea of brick (thanks Marlingardener for another reason to NOT get it!! )

Nice job and great update for your home. the installers may have already done this but be sure to check to see if the grout was sealed or needs sealant so it does not gather any yuk that would be hard to keep your new installation clean and looking great long term. Lee
