The sun's out an is supposed to get to 60 deg. F on Jan 31st. How weird is that for Ohio? In fact it is so nice, I got everything together and cleaned the chimney for the wood burner. I usually clean it in mid= Jan, but I haven't used it that much so far. There wasn't much soot in it. But now it should be good for the rest of the burning season. Have only used a little more than a cord of wood so far. Last winter I used almost 5 cords.
So far this winter can be classified as mild. Unless you own a ski slope most of us can accept that. As a new retiree I can appreciate the mildness and hope it will translate into an early spring. The spring/summer project jar is filling up with little pieces of paper. I am not, however, about to plant palm trees quite yet, but I am tempted to reach into the jar and find something to work on just so I can call it 'springtime.' Tempting...........just unscrew the lid...........is anyone looking?........ Jerry
Our paperwhites are in bloom, and I have buds on two of the rose bushes. We are keeping an eye on the asparagus--it may spike early this year. I don't mind temps in the 60's or 70's in January and February!
Was 70 here yesterday and going to be in the 60's today but it sure is windy! Guess I shouldn't complain, I'm sure the wind is pushing the warm weather in here. Have a great day! ( photo / image / picture from okietriker's Garden )
Unseasonably mild here in Ontario this winter too. I'm not complaining...I've only had to shovel snow once! We are still using the woodstove though. Just started into the 2nd cord of wood.
