Roaming thru an antique mall, one where individuals have booths and not everything is a true antique, you can sometimes find goodies at the back of the store. They usually relegate the vendors of 'primitives' aka the good stuff back there

This was labeled as a Chinese student bench. Can you imagine how uncomfortable those school days were?

I took the easy way out and bought a hypertuffa planter. I figured I would never actually get around to making one so why not.

This torturous looking instrument is actually a Corn Dryer, but I plan on sticking fruit on alternating spikes and hanging it under a tree for birds and butterflies.

Congratulations on your new treasures. :D I'm certain the birds and butterflies will enjoy the fruit, and then we might get to enjoy the photos of them while they're feeding, yes? :stew2:

Love that corn drier. I buy 'fat balls' for the birds, and I would easily poke them on there for them and hang it from the tree. And the planter looks great - I would fill it with little alpines and teeny spring bulbs. As for the bench...give me a cushion. :)

I am hoping to get some pictures. There is a tree limb right outside the window of my craft/computer room, I can watch and take pictures without scaring them off.

Nice planter Toni!! My favourite though has to be the corn drier. My birds would love having fruit and fatballs hung on it.

KK thanks for the verification that it is a student bench, we really didn't know if the vendor was right or not. You see so many things that are misidentified in those shops.

I love the idea of the hypertufa planters. They seem to be the solution to making a container garden that will be very easy to arrange and make them actually fit in the available space unlike round ones. I wonder if you could use cocnut coir instead of peat moss.... I may just have to make a few if I can figure out a mold for them.

As for the corn dryer, I like the idea of using it for the birds and butterflies. I never thought about feeding the butterflies more than the nectar from my flowers I am planting for them.

I think you brought home some awesome things. My mind would be working overtime and then i wouldn't be able to deside,,lol. The idea with the corn dryer is a really good one. I think it would help keep them out of the more important plants that you want left alone. Great finds, and have fun working with them!
