We did really well at the farm market. I sold 12 aprons and 5 tote bags. I learned from two ladies that I need some aprons that are a size betweek children's aprons and full size ladies aprons for those ladies that are short, make that petite. I sold two ladies a large child's apron because they were too short for the ladies aprons. So, about hald to 3/4 size aprons coming up. I'm also about out of all except small size tote bags.
dr did have some problems with giving away free books. People didn't want free books. They all tried to pay for them. When he wouldn't take their money, they laid it on the table when he wasn't looking. We'd find quarters laying there after they left. One lady was showing us some basket weaving she was doing. She put a dollar on the table. I told her the books were free. She said the dollar was for looking at her basket making project.
There was only one other person there. She was selling vegetables. She had potatoes, carrots, lettuce and baskets of herbs. She said she thought that next week she'd have more stuff ready.
The manager said he would try to get ahold of some of the ones from last year to see if they had anything else ready. But, we did have a good time and it was a busy morning. But, no one wanted free books but two young boys.

Glad you had a good day! Your story of people insisting on paying for those free books just made me smile. :stew2:

So glad the market was such a success for you. Who would have thought of "petite" aprons? You'll sell out of those quickly! Your totes went fast, too, didn't they?
I love it that folks want to pay for the books. How about charging 25 cents, and donating the money to the local library?

Well done with the sales you made at the farmers' market Dooley. Petite aprons sound like a great idea. Over here it's hard to get aprons for either short people or very tall folks. Most have regular sized ties too which can make it difficult for people who are rather large around the middle. I think shops forget that not everyone is a regular size and height.

Congrats on that first day, Dooley. Wow--you really did sell well!
I found it endearing that folks left money for the books in spite of them being free for the taking. That reveals a very nice character trait to me.

Anyway, great job done today. Are you two tired after the excitement? Howe did your knee hold-up today?

Dooley, That was a great report of your first day of the season. In regards to the books maybe a donation basket for them would make people feel better and then you could donate that to the library or a literacy fund. just a though.

Go sit down now and put your feet up.

Carolyn, thanks for the donation basket idea. Then, we could still offer free books and still let them donate to the library if they wished.
Sjoerd, people here are great and very friendly and helpful. It's one of the reasons we like it here. Funny thing about my knees. They seem to do better if I'm up and moving as long as I don't kneel down or bend down to do something. Sitting for long periods seems to aggravate them some. We had a good time talking to the lady with the organic produce and to all the customers that came to see us.
