The first seed catalog of the next growing season arrived in my mailbox yesterday. It came...I saw every page and seed species...and I will most likely conquer my better instincts and will order a few goodies after the holidays.
I am leaning towards way too many at the moment so it will take a while to whittle the want list down to a reasonable few.

Toni, we are just putting our garden bed to rest for the winter up north here. Tell me, when will you start planting for the spring?

I haven't received a single seed catalog yet. I haven't put my garden to bed for the winter yet either. Last weeks snow kind of ruined that for me. Today I hope to get the ornaments put away, and hopefully the hydrangeas trimmed. Somehow it all got away from me this year. I would love to see a seed catalog ... it might inspire me lol

Well, usually sometime in March is okay to start planting since our average last freeze date is March 13, but this year we only had three freezing days and those were all in January. And a few years ago we had snow as late as early May. So I have to watch the weather forecasts and play it by ear.

Wow. Could you grow crops during the winter under a row cover or high tunnel?

CM, I could but I don't have that kind of room, not much space in a standard suburban backyard. And I don't grow much anyway, just a few cherry toms for me, asparagus for me, cucumbers for me to make pickles, some green beans and sugar snap peas. There are so few veggies that we will eat.

We moved and I don't think the post office will send those types of things on. I did change our address with some where I buy plants but I used to get so many from places I have never ordered from. I usually get mine or start getting them in a month or two but I do like to dream and plan on what I am going to plant so any time would be great for me.

I just like to drool over the catalogs in the dead if winter.
