One of the good insects.

    Actually they are better than lady bugs, lady birds or whatever you want to call them. The Green lacewing, about 3/8th of an inch long. A great garden friend. Also a great looking insect.

    I love these little bugs and they are most welcome in my garden. Their eyes fascinate me as I think they give them that wide-eyed, dewy look you see in many cartoon characters. Their wings actually do look like fine lacework. Pretty little things and a real boon to have around. :stew2:

    I love your insect pictures Kildale, they are so up close that you get to see all the details. It really is a pretty Lacewing. And for the people who like to fish out there, these make excellent bait.

    I love them in my yard .I wouldn't want to fish with them.

    I forgot to ask...How are they good for a garden? What do they do? Do they eat Aphids as well? :?:

    I don't know what size hook you would use as they are so small. Here is another image of one looking for a home for the youngsters.Your post came in while I was posting this. The young eat more aphids than any other insect.

    There is also a brown lacewing. My photo is not very good but you can tell what it is. The other photo shows a Damselfly with one that wasn't quite fast enough, Damselflies are great hunters bye the way.
