Did I do this correctly? Is it in the proper place? It’s my first try. Thanks for any help.

Mart, glad you asked. It started as a red onion in a 5 pound bag that I purchased locally. It was left on the countertop for a couple of weeks when I noticed it was sprouting. So I left it for several more weeks. Below is what it looked like on March 5, 2020. I separated it into 3 plants and planted them on April 1, 2020.
