Greetings all - has anyone out there tried to grow an orange tree via a seed? I know that apple seeds do not bear the same fruit as the parent tree, but am not sure of oranges.
Of course I'll try to see if any will sprout, but I was wondering if anyone has had success with this. My neighbor has an old tree, probably planted in the late 50's or 60's, and it produces a navel type orange. They are the size of small grapefruits, very juicy and sweet. They normally do not make seeds, but the one I had yesterday had about 6 good size seeds. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I copied this from the internet in the hope it might be of some use to you.

"Soak the seeds overnight in water and plant them ½ inch deep in moist potting soil. Cover the pot with a plastic bag or wrap and let it sit in a warm and sunny spot for a few weeks until the seeds start to grow. Then, remove the plastic but keep the pot near a warm and sunny window."
Do let us know if you get any of the seeds to germinate won't you?
