Was hoping for cooler not freezing for our Easter cold snap. Down to 31 last night. It is Texas after all. How are others faring with their gardens?
We had a light frost, but no garden damage. Our cool season crops, and even the potatoes fared well. I do hope to get the tomatoes and peppers planted this week. I keep feeling I'm behind in my planting, but after referring to my garden book, I see that we are actually ahead of our usual planting schedule. Last fall was strange, and this spring is even stranger!
It is still frosting here at night. Nothing planted outside yet...but by the end of the month, I will have planted some things. Other folks on my gardening complex have planted things.
I covered all the tender things last two nights but now they are on their own. Get tough or die ! Only lost a few leaves and everything seems to be faring well. The potatoes I bought for seed are just coming through the soil but those I grew last year and planted are already spreading everywhere. Cool weather crops are looking great and loving the temps.
