The trouble with quotes on the Internet is that you never know if they are genuine. --Abraham Lincoln--
Sorry. Can't find appropriate area for this. Betamax. It must have been around 1982/3. A young lad with some speech & hearing problems, was working at a government establishment where I worked. He'd bought himself a Betamax video set on HP. His family forbade him to use it at home. Sadly they mocked him due to his health & wellbeing. It transpires that the family had been treating themselves to goods on his account and then defaulting on the repayments. He was worried sick, believing he would end up in prison. I decided to help him out. I bought the set off him at full price. It was unused. I made the cheque out to the store, and informed them of the lad's family problems. In time the set began to have some problems. The design of the machine, made it a dockyard job to fix. Some years later. I got it out of the cupboard, plugged it in and hey-ho perfect. Even now, after all these years, I often plug in and play old videos.
Betamax was at the time considered better than VHS. However I believe the latter overtook the market, sso I doubt if the former is still marketed. Not that I use either now, but IMO Betamax was better.
