I recently planted Asiatic Lillies and had a question. I'm not much of a gardener so I need all the help I can get. The Lillies already bloomed and produced beautiful flowers now that the flowers have fallen off what do I do? Do I just leave them alone or am I supposed to trim them? Please help. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Hi Daysers1, welcome to the Stew from north Texas. How about posting an intro of yourself in the Welcome to GardenStew forum so we can all start getting to know each other.

Lilies, like all bulb plants absorb energy for next years blooms thru the leaves. So after blooming the leaves need to be left alone, you can cut off the flower stalk tho.

    What I do

I just leave the whole thing alone ..Asiatic Lilys.
Come next spring the tall brown spikes will be there to show you where they are coming back..I been on them about 5 years now.
    Works for me.

I have some in a pot, but I also leave the foliage alone, come spring when they first start peeking through if the stalk are still there I snip them back.

Yup, that's why I have lilies in spots that I don't get to much, 'cuz it seems the more I "care for" them, the more they suffer! Just let 'em be!

If you lived in Britain or Europe, I would suggest that you remove the stems as soon as they are dead. The dreaded Red lily beetles can over winter inside the stems.
