I just wanted to share my shock and amazement, Wonder and joy for the families of a couple of girls that have been missing for 10 years not far from my house. Today A man was off work, went to McDonalds, came home to eat it and heard some screaming from a house next door. So he went over to see what was going on an found a young lady that said she was Amanda Berry and was being held against her will. Called the police and when they came she said there was two more young ladies there along with a couple of children....WOW oh WOW! I never thought they would find them and especially not in Cleveland, literally in their own back yards. This story reminds me of the one out in California from a couple years ago...I don't remember her name right now, but she had two children and was held captive in the back yard of a convicted felon. I have felt so bad for these families. Every year they have a vigil for them keeping them in the spotlight. I am sure it will be on all your news channels, though. No sleeping for these families tonight.
I'm glad they are free at last. 10 years, a long time to be held captive without being able to escape. Their families must be ecstatic. Jerry
Now it's the turn of the three brothers to find out just what being incarcerated for years is like. I can't comprehend how no-one knew the girls were there thogh - especially as they seemed to have had children during their imprisonment. Their families must be overjoyed to know that they are alive after all this time. I just hope that they can now be allowed to get on with their lives in a normal fashion.
Hi Carolyn,..yes we got it on our Sky News and CNN,..i did wonder was the location anywhere near your place. The families of the three girls will be over the moon,..its so hard to understand how the three girls could be hidden away for so long and not in an isolated area either.
Shocking hardly describes my feelings for this situation. We had posters for these girls in our area when this happened. So it isn't all that far from us. It is just shocking. I read this morning one of the neighbors has known the man since he was small (5-6 years old) and can't believe that this was two doors away from him. The red flags were there, but only in retrospect. We don't know what is out of place because it is so "normal" sometimes.
I just saw this story on our local news! Amazing! This story could have ended so much worse ... the families must be thrilled to have their daughters back!
This story was on my facebook feed this morning! I am amazed, and so happy for the families involved. The gentleman who was interviewed talked about knowing the neighbor for years, and that they even BBQ'd together! Wow!
What is sad Mother of Amanda had passed away.Other member of family said she sold her.And Scary he drove a school bus.And more people Knew. What they went through.
Jaycee Dugard was the girl in california and was forced to live in a tent and had babies by the bad guy while his girlfriend lived there. So shocking! It makes you wonder how many other missing girls are being held somewhere.... as a mother of three girls this stuff scares the crap out of me! So thankful they were found alive though.....
It's so hard to believe what goes on in this world. I just hope the girls can live a normal life now.
Dh is 2nd degree black belt.Think it should be taught in lower grades. Some of the basic moves. You don't have to be big to bring a full grown man down. Enough to get away.
This is the most bizarre story. Everyday more facts are revealed and is mind boggling. This (the suspect) was a friend of the family of one of the girls . Is it any wonder that this person could so easily snatch one of them?! I just pray for these young women that they can get some counseling and move back into living a life of their own choosing. KK, my daughter takes self defense courses at the U of Akron once a week. I hope she never needs to use them, but am willing and glad to pay for them just in case she ever needs to defend herself.
Some of the basic defense moves help.Woman strike with their elbow and hands clamped together. Dh hasn't practice karate for 20 years, BUT.
